49ers Game Room

Here is a little history. My husband, Bruce, was in the army. He was stationed at Ft. Lewis Washington. So that is where we lived together for about 5 years, well he had lived there for 2 before we got married. Until he was medically retired. We decided, and it was a pretty hard decision, to leave the place we called home for so long, to come back to our home state of California. Which is nice since both our families are here. :)

Anywho.. we bought a house in August last year, in October Bruce's brother and his prego girlfriend moved in with us to help save up some money for the baby. Which was fine.. they moved into the game room. Which was a sacrifice for the hubs.. but one he was willing to make for his brother... and we hadn't done anything to the room yet anyways.. we had practically just moved into the house ourselves! After all the renovations and waiting for our stuff to be delivered to us.. we really didn't get to move into our place to the end of September!

Well 6 months later.. they have moved out into a place of their own! They just had their baby a few days ago.. and he is soo adorable! AND we have our game room back! We had plans for this room for quite a while.. it was going to be decked out in 49ers all the way! :) Its my hubbys team. He was nervous..but he agreed to let me paint their logo on the wall... we also considered fatheads but Bruce wanted something bigger anyways.

It took 4 days.. but we love it. I think it turned out so amazing. And Im really proud of our work! :) Here is the process in pictures:

Day 1: Drawing it out...
Photobucket
Yes I drew this all out by hand!
Photobucket
Do you know how much of a pain in the BUTT it is to draw on textured wall at such a large scale? Logo size is 5ft wide by 3 feet tall, the wording 49ers is another foot tall.
Photobucket
My hand was totally cramped and cover in pencil lead.
I drew out the logo, my husband did the 49ers.. then had me re-do the 4 and 9. lol
Said it wasnt to scale like the others and was too lazy to fix it himself. Haha

Day 2: Primer and Gold paint
Photobucket
The Hubs worked on painting all the other walls.
Primer for where the red would be.. and gold for the other walls.
Photobucket
I worked on the logo.. SF is white!
Photobucket
I had to use a very small paint brush to primer the logo and around the 49ers.

At the end of Day 2: It doesn't seem like much, but with 3 kids constantly needing something,
we felt pretty accomplished. :)

Day 3: Seeing red
Photobucket
Outlining the red.. it took me three hours to completely outline the logo and the 49ers!
Can u believe that!
Photobucket
At the end of day 3... Bruce did such a great job with the rest of the room!

Day 4: Finishing touches :)
Photobucket
This is really a big deal for me.. cause I have a fear of heights! lol
And I was on the ladder majority of the time. I know its not that far up.. but its still a bit scary!
Photobucket
Finished!

Here it is complete.

It looks a little bare right now.. but we have more plans for it. :) Next to the brick we wanna put in a little bar area. We already have a mini fridge waiting to be put in. And behind the couch will be a small game table, for poker nights or board games and such.

Another view.

I really LOVE how it turned out. Even though this is mostly my husbands room.. I still think its amazing and was fun to do together. Im really excited for him to finally have the game room he has been wanting! :) Im also excited for fathers day, because I'm working on something to match the room.. for the bar area! Ill be posting another blog on that later! Im pretty stoked for all the things I have planned..Ive been busy a lot lately.. so haven't been able to blog as much as I would like.. but Ive got so much to share.. just need more to time to post! Things to looks forward to... my fathers day craft, dollar tree crafts and a couple other things Ive done.. that are just waiting to be uploaded from my camera! Im hoping MONDAY I can Post some more!!!!! Until then I hope everyone has a BLESSED Sunday and a great week ahead!! Anyways... Im off to get dressed for church.

  7. This is gorgeous! I would love to create this look for my son's room. He is the ultimate 49ers fan. Can you tell me how did you draw the logo and lettering? Was it stencil?

    1. Hello! Thank you for the wonderful compliment! I actually drew that logo out by hand. There was no stencil. I had a small piece of paper with the logo printed on it to look for reference. But I dont think there is even a stencil that big. It measures 5 feet x 3 feet!

If you look at the 2nd picture you can see all the smudges and eraser marks and such. LOL Because it was pretty much trial and error. And Looking at it on the latter and then from the floor is so different, so I had to go back and forth making sure everything look right and proportionate!

I am not sure, but you may be able to by a fathead of the logo... my husband thought about doing that... but we didnt want to pay that much for one... also it wasnt as big as he was wanting. So he had to trust me to draw/paint it for him! :)

  8. The room looks awesome, my hubby is also a niners fan! Another idea for doing the logo is using a projector from the library, that's what I plan on doing, hopefully it comes out good.

  9. How far down from the ceiling did you make the stripe? It's in the perfect place!

    1. I cannot remember for sure, but I think about 3/4 feet from the ceiling. That room has high ceilings though (about 10 feet).
