Ribbon Roses

Remember my previous post fun with flattened marbles? Well This is the idea I had to use them for:
Photobucket
(Like my cool plaid pj's?? :) Yeah it was around 4:30 PM and I was still in jammies.. dont hate! LOL)

I was wanting to make another cute hair clip.. and was just looking through my supplies. And it just clicked for an idea to use my decorative flattened marbles and ribbon. I wasnt sure how I wanted to use the ribbon.. there are many ways to make ribbon bows and flowers. But I hadnt seen anyone make one like this before (though Im sure Im not the first!) Anyways.. here is a little tutorial on how to make my ribbon roses!

Here are the supplies:
Felt cut into a circle ( I used my camera's lens cap as a stencil.. its the perfect size!)
Ribbon
scissors
Alligator clip (or any other hair clip or head band)
Hot glue gun
Photobucket

Making the roses is actually kind of similar to the little lace flower.

1.)Add short lines of hot glue, and attach the ribbon, creasing each time to make sure it goes around nicely.
Photobucket Photobucket

Keep going around until you get to the center.
2.) Use your custom decorative flattened marble for the center... apply plenty of hot glue to the back and stick it right to the middle. (Dont know how to make those check out the tutorial here.)

Photobucket Photobucket

3.) Cut a small rectangular piece of felt
4.) Add a dot of hot glue to the center and stick it to the underside of the alligator clip.
5.) Once that is dry, add hot glue to the whole top surface of the felt.

Photobucket Photobucket

6.) Stick the ribbon rose right on top of it with some pressure. And Voila! Youve got yourself an adorable custom made ribbon rose hair clip! :)

Photobucket Photobucket

Want to make a head band instead?
Cut an oval shape from the felt, add a line of glue down the center of it and apply it to the inside of the head band, where ever you want your flower to be.
Then add hot glue all over the top surface of the felt.

And then apply the rose on top:

This one I made for my daughter Kiah, here she is modeling it. :)

I made 3 head bands:

One for me, Kiah and my sister Alea.

And 3 using the alligator clips:

:) I am so happy with how they turned out. Im get so excited when I get a random idea that actually turns into something pretty! :) If any of you make these, please post and come back to leave link to it! I always love to see other versions! everyone is unique in their own way and always expands on or has other great ideas of their own to add, which is always fun to see!

Fun with Flattened Marbles! :)

OK So Im making this post, because it will directly relate to my very next post! And Although this isnt a new idea at all.. Im posting it anyways for those who may not have seen this before or who have ever wondered how to do this. :) And also because as I said... it will relate to my next post.. which will be a surprise until then! :)

Ok onto the tutorial!
Supplies:
Patterned paper
Sobo glue (or any other kind of craft glue like mod podge)
Flattened marbles (found at various places, Micheal's, Walmart, Dollar Tree)
Paint Brush
Pen/Pencil
Scissors

Photobucket

Step 1: Place Marble down on paper, make sure you can see and like the pattern showing through.
Step 2: trace the marble

Photobucket Photobucket

Step 3: Cut out
step 4: Add a dot of glue to the center of the back on the marble, and use the paint brush to coat the whole back/bottom of the marble
Step 5: Attach the paper, press firmly to make sure there are no bubbles or spots with more glue. (Some glue may ooze out .. just wipe away.)

Photobucket Photobucket

And thats it.. You have an adorable flatten marble, to use your imagination with!
These are the other ones I made for my soon to be revealed  project:
Photobucket

When I first saw these.. they were used to make magnets. And I had made some of those about a year ago and I love them! :) But Just a few days ago I had another idea for them.. which I will reveal in my next post. :) I figured they could be used for lots of different things! What ideas, can you think of for these??
Some that came to my mind would be a cute broach, or even a ring, or necklace! You can do a lot with these.. and they are totally custom, which is so great!

Here are some of the magnets I made: (BTW that adorable baby in the 2 magnets down there is Zander when he was only about a few weeks old! Can you believe that!)
Photobucket

Some helpful tips:
-I found the star shapes at the Dollar tree, they also have the big and small flattened marbles.
-I used digi scrap papers that I printed out for the ones I made a few days ago.. but as you can see from my magnets.. you can also use photos. Other ideas.. are scrap book paper, magazines.. pretty much anything with a great pattern you love!

I even use a few twilight themed patterns and sayings that I printed out.. made a magnet set, and gave it to a friend as a birthday present. :)

Id love to see your great ideas for using these! :)

Look What Ive been making :)

Cute, fabric photo albums! :) When I was a little girl, my gramps made these for all his kids. SO my mom and all my uncles and Aunt got one. And my grams filled them with all the photos of them as children, and other family photos, including some pictures of their own kids. I ALWAYS loved them, and thought it was so cool that he made those!

So bought the supplies and made a few myself, and gave them away as baby shower gifts. :)

Sorry for the bad picture quality, At the time of making these I only took quick pictures with my cell phone. But I will be posting a tutorial sometime next week, with better pictures. :)

This first picture is the very first one I made. It was for a friend of mine & soon to be sister in law.
This teal blue is her favorite color, and her sons nursery theme was to be blue and brown. She is a cowgirl and so thats why I decided on the suede fringe, its just seemed so "her". :)

As a gift to her, I did her maternity portraits (which I will also be posting soon). I edited most and printed out about 300 of them. Filled the album and gave it to her as a surprise at her baby shower! It was a surprise because she didn't know about the special album I was making her or that I was going to be printing them all for her!

This next one, was made for my sister in law, who is pregnant. I gave this to her at her baby shower, and will be doing her portraits with the baby once she is born. :)
Photobucket

This last one is my favorite one! :) This was made for Isabella! When I saw the fabric, I knew it was sooo her. Since her nursery decor is Princess theme, with colors pink and black, and a lot of demask print! And I just adore this fabric! And of course for this special princess I had to find jewel studded lace for the trim! Her mommy, Mona,  filled it with all her portraits that I took of Isabella. :)

Like I said, Ill be doing a tutorial for these next week. So if youre interested, be sure to check back, or become a follower so you dont miss a thing! :)

Personality Photo shoot.
The children were able to do their own individual shoots. They picked their outfits for the shoot and had their own ideas of how they wanted their portraits done... to reflect their personalities.

Rachel age 16
Rachel is reserved, she listens and takes in life and people. Though she doesn't judge anyone, and loves everyone with all their flaws, she wants to think the best of everyone. She is kind, caring, patient, so helpful and an amazing listener! :) Her session was simple and short, but very enjoyed. She is a gorgeous girl, and had such a sparkle in her eyes that really matched her personality.

Josh Age 14:
This handsome young man is in the young Marines, he is a great kid who LOVES to talk. :) Though he's Not a fan of getting his picture taken so he says. haha He is a fun goofy kid who claims he doesnt like to smile. We did his session in his man cave of a room. Which is so him, he got very excited to show me his gun (though if he read this he would quickly correct me as to exactly what kind of riffle this was.. for the life of me I cant remember!), he showed me his weight bench, and mug shot wall, and other fun features of his basement bedroom. :)

Jasmin age 11
Jasmin, is a sweet and loving girl. She is a tom boy at heart but also loves to be girly and get dressed up.She had the idea to be dressed up and to be sitting in the dirt.. drawing in it as seen in the first photo here. I thought that was great.. a real reflection of her personality! She loves the orchard and she told me that she spends a lot of the time up in the trees (and climbed several during the session)! She is such a ham too and was fun to shoot, and we actually took more photos than any other family member! She is so photogenic it was had to chose favorites from her shots.. they all looked beautiful!

Tyler age 10
Tyler.. what a cutie with a great smile!  He was really excited to do his session.. dressed up like a boxer. He likes all kinds of sports and really enjoys MMA with his dad. He is so funny and was fun to shoot as well.. showing me his boxing moves, doing sit ups and push ups.. he even climbed a tree and did a hand stand for me. :)These are my personal fav's.

The Parentals; Clayton and Mona
Clayton and Mona are wonderful parents to those 5!  Mona is stickler for her ideas and making sure things go just as she plans! She had specific ideas for how she wanted their family shoot to go, which I was grateful  for (I love when clients are armed and ready with their own ideas too!) it was her idea for the couches and out doors and the outfits.. and did you notice the girls had matching roses in their hair? All in their own fav colors. :) But she was also very open to my ideas and suggestions, for a family of 7.. they were actually very easy and fun to shoot!
For their couple session though, they were very laid back and open to me moving them around and posing them... they went with me and had fun with it to make it their own though which I loved. The 4th picture below cracks me up.. its such a great photo! Mona just said.. I kinda wanna just grab his shirt in a playfully way and give a "come 'ere" kinda look.. Clayton was like.. uh what do I do? I said well just let her do it and react normally, and I will just take the pictures :) and thats what came out. It looks great! So fun and flirty. You can tell just how much they are in love, and enjoy each others presence.
