If you follow my blog you know that I have been working on a photo cut out for my Luau themed Birthday Party. :) Here is the final post.. the finished product! Im so excited cause as I said before.. its been done for days.. and I just needed to find the time to post on here. :)
You can see the beginning stages of the idea in part one here, the materials and starting sketch in part two here. :) and the sawing of the face holes and start of the paint job in part 3 here.
To paint the rest of this it took me 5 more hours! I know I couldnt believe it either. It really didnt feel like it, but when I looked at my phone to check the time I was surprised! It was nice and calming for me though, I just layed on the ground painting.. and working on details. Im very happy with how it came out!
I loved how much the whole thing just started to POP once I started painting in the blue sky.
Then adding in the ocean..
And my fav.. the palm tree.. I just adore how they turned out! :) They just look so cute to me! ;)
Completely finished.. before painting the detailed outlines!!
After the detail and outlines.
Once I was done painting it completely I called my sexy hubs out to start working on the stand. ;)
And voila!! I was just so amazed with it. And so happy that I chose to take on this project instead of just buying one. It was fun to make (though time consuming) and its my own and something I am proud of and I know this will be a fun feature at my party! :)
Now looking at it fully upright I realized why I was having so much trouble with the girls body... her torso is too long.. her hips should be a lot higher.. but I couldnt see that while it was laying flat. It just never looked quite right to me.. but I wasnt sure what I needed to do to fix it. Seeing it like this I saw it clearly. But oh well.. no going back now. Im still very pleased with the out come! And its supposed to be exaggerated and cartoon-y like for fun. So all is good!
And just for fun.. here is me and the hubs testing it out. We just propped the cam up on a box.. when I take the pics at the party they will be better. :) And hopefully I will look better too.. but hey give me a break.. this picture was taken after 5 hours of painting, and no makeup! LOL And you gotta love the hubs Zoolander face right. :) Well anywho.. thanks for stopping by the blog and checking out my photo cut out project!!
Update!!! Check out how the Party went! :)

That totally cracks me up! Great job--things like this take forever, so good for you for taking on and finishing such a huge project! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up at Craftastical!
How fun! What a great idea. I love that you found the peace of painting - that's exactly why I'm on a mission to teach people to paint. It absolutely saved me when I was raising 3 stepsons.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to show this to the Hubs. He does photography for clubs on wkends. Something along these lines would be fun!
it turned out so nice. I love the energy in the drawing. It's such a great idea. I see these at fairs all the time and we love having our pictures taken in them. Your guests are sure going to have fun taking pictures. I can't wait to make one for my backyard. It will probably take me a lot longer though, because I can't draw at all.
