Jazz Up A Laptop In Less Than 5 Minutes! (NOT a vinyl project!)

I was tired of looking at my plain old boring laptop. So I decided I needed to do some thing about it. Ive seen several cute ways to jazz up house hold items like your mixer and such with vinyl. But since I am not one of the cool kids with a Silhouette or Cricut, and I didnt feel like spending $20 to buy a vinyl cutout from somewhere OR wait for shipping, I had to think of something else.
Well....Im a doodler and I was totally compelled to just graffiti  all over it.. but wasnt sure if I would like that in the long run.. so I decided to so something a little more classy. :) Now, Check out how adorable my laptop looks!
I totally LOVE it.

There really was no need for me to make a tutorial for this.. but I took pictures along the way just because Im a very visual learner (and explainer) plus its just habit I guess. LOL So here is the most ridiculously easy "tutorial" ever...

SUPPLIES:
I found this pack of adorable stencils at Walmart for about $3
Metallic Sharpie Also found at Walmart
Tape
Boring PLAIN Laptop

Punch out your stencil of choice... I just LOVED this chandelier!
Then tape it to your laptop.

Begin coloring in the stencil in one fluid direction.

Pull off stencil and Voila! Easy Peasy Jazzed up Laptop in only a few minutes!

There were a few spots on there that needed fixing, I just went over them with the sharpie again to smooth out the lines.

Now here is the only problem... which way to put your stencil! I didnt really think of how it would look when it was OPEN! lol I only did the stencil for when the lap top is closed... now when the laptop is open it looks upside down! :(  Its typical to have it the right side up when the laptop is open.. but who wants to be typical anyways... I still LOVE how it turned out! :) And when ever I see it, I smile.

Whatcha think???

P.S. I'd like to note that my laptop (like most.. or all probably) has that kind of greasy feel to it all the time. So even though this is done with permanent marker.. its not really permanent.  It can easily be scrubbed of scratched off. I already figured that and left it as is in case I wanted a change every once in a while. But if you like your work and want to really make it permanent, I would suggest using Mod Podge to seal it! :)

  1. What a great idea! You know, you could just turn the stencil upside down (or right side up) on the other side, so that was one will always be facing the right direction.

  3. I really like that Maria!
It doesn't look all that funny upside down though :D It looks like candles while it is open. Have a great day!
