500 Followers Celebration: Guest Blogger Nina From Momma Go Round

Oh boy am I THRILLED beyond words to announce the special guest on my blog today! :) I have been loving and (PINNING like crazy) each post this Momma does! She is a HUGE inspiration to me! I love how REAL she is, how CONFIDENT she is, and how GORGEOUS she is!

I LOVE style and fashion.. but sometimes I am a CHICKEN when it comes to really stepping out of the house in a certain outfit.. because that means stepping out of my comfort zone, having to face insecurities and wondering what people will think! Well this certain Momma has been such an encouragement to me because of her "Real Momma, Real Style" posts. Now I step out with confidence and you know what? I get complimented a lot for my style! Its not so scary now.. and I also have her to look at for inspiration and ideas on what will look good on me too. :) She rocks!

Ok.. was that too long of an introduction? haha I guess I better get on with it..
NOT that this Momma NEEDS an introduction from me or anything.. but here is
Nina AKA Momma Go Round!! :)

Hi Agape Love lovelies! I'm Nina and I author a little fashion blog
called Momma Go Round.

Momma Go Round is all about
real style, for real women, on a real budget. After having my son and
my body TOTALLY changing shape on me, I had no clue
how to dress. So for 18 months I lived in yoga pants, jeans, and t-shirts. Exciting.

Finally fed up with my frumptacular style, I decided to dive into the
fashion world head first and hope for the best. It's definitely
difficult balancing fashion with momma-hood...so here's some of the
lessons that I've learned on how to be a momma fashionista.

#1 No Matter How Cute It Is, If It's Not Child Friendly You'll NEVER Wear It

Yup, I got suckered in by the "It's such a great deal at Target and
it's so adorable, I know I'll find like a million ways to wear it".
FAIL. I've found one way to wear it, that was a total fashion flop,
and now it sits at the bottom of my drawer. Note to self, black
sequins + squirmy toddler = squirmy sequiny toddler + a sad looking shirt.

#2 Momma Fashion Is All About Form AND Function

Each piece doesn't have to cost a fortune, it just needs to fit YOU
right and work with your lifestyle. I build my wardrobe on a
foundation of basics. A classic white shirt and great fitting jeans,
then gussy it up with fun accessories like a fedora, bright necklace,
and a turquoise ring. This way, I can mix and match my clothing pieces
with my accessories depending on what's up for the day.

#3 Be Practical, Yet Fun
While I would love to go gallivanting around in my killer tan canvasy
ruffle wedges all day, my 2 year old that's the size of a 4 year old (not kidding) but
still wants to be carried like a 2 year old has something to say about
that. So for special occasions, church, or those magical child-free
days, I have fun wedges and heels that didn't cost a fortune cause
they hardly get worn, but are there when I need them.

For everyday, I have a boat load (boat load, boat shoes, get it? I know, I'm so original!) of fun flats,
sandals, boots, and sneakers for mommy duty at the park, splash pad, Costco...you know, the glamorous stuff. Just because it needs to be practical, doesn't mean it has to be boring!

#4 Dare to FAIL
Yep, it happens to the best of us. I swear in the mirror this outfit
looked good! The mirror is now sitting in the corner on time out
:P  But you know what? WHO CARES!!! It's clothes
not a tattoo, you get to try again tomorrow. So I went to church
and my in-laws looking like the purple Kool-Aid man....whooptie doo!

It just makes those times that you get it right that much more
awesome!

The biggest thing I've learned, and am still learning, is to have fun.
In a world filled with nasty diapers, too much "mac cheese", endless
repeats of Elmo, Nemo, Up, Wall E, Buzz... I need a little fun on an
adult level. If a cute $3 necklace from Forever 21 brightens your
day, then ROCK ON! If it's stepping outside your comfort zone and
trying something new, YOU RULE! Whatever it may be, fashion is supposed to be fun!
