Hello friends! I'm so excited to be here Maria's blog, she was one of the first blogs I ever really got into and is still one of my favorites! I have her to thank for a lot I've learned about blog land :)Here are my answers to Maria's fun little interview :)
Can you tell us a little about yourself and Your blog (and shop if you have one)?
My name is Amanda, creator of the blog little b. I became a new momma in May to a beautiful baby girl, our little b. I went to school for Fashion Design and have always loved all things artsy. In my spare time {when I manage to find some :)} you can find me drawing, painting, crafting, sewing or dancing around our apartment. I grew up in Minnesota but am living in San Diego at the moment so being far away from friends and family has been hard but really given me the opportunity to go after my dreams. Right now my life is consumed by our little b, planning our wedding, and my blog{s}. My blog, little b, is all about our darling little girl and the many wonderful adventures we share together! I also recently started two other blogs {like little b, they are all definitely a major work in progress}. They are Bow-tied Designs {my fashion blog} and Raising Miss Mommy {my mommy blog}.
How did you first get involved with blogging?
Towards the end of my pregnancy I was honestly just really bored and looking for something to do. My fiance works long hours and living away from friends and family gave me a ton of "me" time. I also wanted a fun way to share our daughters life with everyone back in Minnesota since we live so far away. I started blogging shortly after she was born and have been hooked ever since. I love having an outlet to share my thoughts, crafting ventures, fashion ideas, and of course the adventures of our little b. I also love how I feel like I have made some great bloggy friends. The blog world seems so big but once you get to know your fellow bloggers it really is a close knit community of wonderful people.
How do you come up with material/content for your blog each day, What inspires you?Lots of things inspire me, mainly our daughter. Once I got going with my blog, little b, I realized I have so many crazy and random thoughts and things I was sharing that I decided to create my other blogs to keep each one specific to one aspect of my life. Just about everything our daughter does is inspiration enough for my little b blog. I'm amazed by every little thing about her and could probably find a way to write a post about her cute little finger nails if I wanted to. For my fashion blog I find inspiration from taking walks and paying attention to what everyone is wearing, shopping in stores and online, and from Etsy. I also love digging through fashion history to find inspiration. Fashion is so visual so it is easy to just look around to be inspired! For my mommy blog I find inspiration from everything I am experiencing as a new mom. Things from trying to break my habit of wearing sweatpants everyday to just sharing all those things they don't tell you about entering mommyhood. I have found that it isn't always about needing to feel inspired but instead just having a willingness to be open and honest about your life.
What has been the most challenging moment in being a blogger?
Feeling like no one out there cares about what I have to say. I didn't start blogging with a goal to get a whole bunch of people reading my blogs, but it gives me a sense of purpose to feel like there are people out there who enjoy reading what I have to say, or can even relate to or learn from my experiences.
Everyone has a favorite/least favorite post. Name yours and why?
My favorite post would have to be a tie between four {it's just too hard to pick one!}, 'These Scars Remind Me', 'Someday', 'I Find Happiness', and 'Baby View'. These are my favorite because one is where I really opened up and shared an insecurity, another I shared some fears, and another was just a lot of fun :) I can't say that I have a least favorite post, even if it has been something I had a harder time writing about I still had a reason behind it and I really try to remind myself there is always a good reason why I decide to share something.
Name some of the bloggers whom you look up to and why?First I have to gush over Maria. Her blog is one I stumbled upon first as I began to explore blog land and had decided to contact her to tell her how awesome I thought she was and that her blog rocks. Not only did she email me back {very quickly too} thanking me and then offering me any help I might need as I tried to find my place as a blogger. She has been so helpful and wonderful. We have never met in person but I feel like if I were to meet her I know she'd be an immediate friend. With out her kinds words and endless help, I would probably still be trying to figure out what linky parties are. Some others I have really come to love are: Little Miss Momma, Barefoot by the Sea, Gussy Sews, Eisymorgan... just to name a few. Check them out, even a first look at these blogs can help you understand why I admire them :)
What goals do you have, if any, for your blog/shop right now and in the future?I just want to be able to keep blogging and if I manage to keep some people coming back to read my rants well then that is just the most wonderful reward. At some point too {when I manage to find some more free time} I hope to be able to grow my business and eventually gear it more towards a clothing line I have been working on. If my blogs can help me get to this point someday, well then I will be the most happy momma there is.
What Social Networks are you on for your blog?
Facebook {little b}, Facebook {Raising Miss Mommy}, Twitter {I literally just hopped on the twitter bandwagon so I'll be tweeting soon :)}
What networking do you do that you feel helps get your blog and/or shop the most exposure?I think the things that have helped me the most are commenting on other blogs, linking up to linky parties, and contacting blogs I admire. Lately I haven't had much time to put towards getting my blog{s} our there but when I am able to spend more time trying to do all that fun stuff I notice my follower number start to jump up. You definitely have to understand that things take time and you get what you put into it. Patience is key {especially if you have a crazy hectic but wonderful life like myself :)}.
Is there anything you know now that you wish you knew before you started blogging?
I wish I knew how addicting it was. Every free moment I get I feel like I am doing something related to my blog{s}. Sometimes I have to remind myself that there is life outside my computer {like my amazing fiance and darling daughter, both of which are my main inspiration for my blogs}. I'm slowly learning how to balance everything :)
What has been the best thing about blogging so far, feel free to share any exciting triumphs or milestones you have had or reached! :)I would have to say the best thing about blogging so far has been getting the nice comments and emails about my posts or blog in general. They are so nice, comforting, special, inspiring, and motivating to read. Living so far away from family and friends can get lonely at times but it's the kind words of others that help give me a sense of community and closeness. I will always blog, even if no one reads what I write, but knowing that there is even one person out there reading my blog puts the biggest smile on my face and motivates me to keep going.
Is there anything else you would like to share with my readers?
Thank you so much for taking the time to read about my blogging insights and to Maria for including me in her blogger interviews :)
