Biggest Loser - Starting Weight Outfit Post

My mom called me a few weeks ago with an idea that had been running through her mind.
She has been wanting to get back into shape, lose weight and get healthy.
She knows that all of our family pretty much wants, and needs to do the same.
So she came up with an idea for us all to get together to do our own little "biggest loser" competition.
I love the idea.
A fun way to get in shape, spend time with family AND possibly win a little extra cash!
We all got together, weighed in and put in $10 per person.
Yesterday was the starting point and we are going until July 1st.
(Update, since its past July, The Hubs & I won, but I am still continuing on the journey.)
Im really excited about this.
And I am really hoping to stick to it and REALLY lose some serious weight.
Which is the reason for this post.
I thought an outfit post would be a "fun" way to show off my starting weight photos.
And so I can have more than just my family to be held accountable to.
I now have all of you, my lovely readers, to hold me accountable.

I am not brave enough to share my actual weight, but lets just say...
According to my last Dr. with my height, for me not to be considered "obese" or "overweight"
I would need to lose more than 100 lbs!!! Big fat discouraged FROWN face. :(
To me that seems a little excessive, I don't even WANT to be that "small".
I don't know.. maybe its just me, but it just doesn't seem right. haha
So, anyways.. there is that.
Tank: Walmart,  Jacket: DebbSkinny Jeans: Old Navy,  Shoes: Payless

By the way... did you notice... skinny jeans...
Even after {this} post and all the wonderful encouragement,
I had still been a little weary of skinny jeans.
But my sisters convinced me I looked great in them and should give them a chance!
So, I went for it and bought a new pair that I could incorporate easier in "everyday" wear.

I must say, I do like them. They are comfy and I feel stylish.
I am not sure if they really look THAT great on me.
But its all good.
I'm sure with this competition going on, I will start looking better and better.
And feel a little more confident with myself and what I wear. ♥

Now, if any of you have any fantasticly good recipes to share that are healthy,
I would REALLY love to know them!
The Hubs and I are going to change our diet and eating habits.
We definitely need new meal ideas.
So share your tips, ideas, & recipes if you have some!

Much Love & Hugs,

P.S. Im gonna be Linking this post up to these places.
Check them out!! :)

  2. The skinny jeans look great on you! I am still not brave enough to wear them myself. Maybe soon I will give them a try. My mother and I are also both trying to lose weight together. It has been VERY tough, but we are both down 20 lbs! We recently added jump roping to our exercise list and it has been a BLAST! I forgot how much fun it was! I wish you the best of luck :D

  4. What a fun idea! I will be cheering you on! As far as weight loss goes, I'm on the other end of the spectrum. I'm trying to gain weight lol but I do recommend not eating any processed foods for the first couple of weeks. That's where it's unhealthy! Try to remain with whole foods that are alive. So your fruits and veggies. I've been eating gluten free for tummy issues, and it's made me eat more healthily and it's awesome! You would not believe how much energy you gain when you take out gluten. But anyways I'm getting off my soapbox now hah

    1. Wow, I will have to look into that. But yeah we are for sure taking out A LOT (all if we can help it) of certain foods that we eat a lot of that are unhealthy... Like processed foods. Going for more FRESH foods, and fruits and veggies!

  6. Good Luck!! :) My family is doing this same thing. We started the first week in January and our final weigh in is the date of my sisters wedding May 11th. WE all put in money We have a weigh in each Tuesday morning and post our numbers (and percentage of weight loss) on a private facebook page. Whoever has lowest percentage for the week..puts a bit more money in. It has been super fun to watch everyones progress and have a support system. I am down 19 lbs! I just watch my calories and track it on myfitnesspal.com and work my butt off at the gym! YOU CAN DO IT! ;)

    1. Yes, she is awesome. And it is SUCH a good idea! All our family getting together to do this is gonna be great! Though mostly we will be "on our own" through out the week, we have set dates to get together and do a family day where we do some kind of activity and healthy lunch or dinner together! It will be great for bringing us closer as a family while also getting healthy! :)

  12. Alright, you've started a revolution, I'm inspired and am going to get my family on board! I love your fans suggestion of a private fb page to track weight loss and goals. Maybe incorporate a family fun night where the whole family gets together and plays wii or kinect or goes for a hike/picnic or a rumba class for all the girls or something else you've been wanting to try:) some reciepes I like/food: asparagus with olive oil salt and pepper, spaghetti squash. I try and put all the fruits and veggies on the top shelf of the fridge so they are more accessible :)

  14. While you're playing Biggest Loser, we should play Let's Make A Deal. You can give me the weight you lose. LOL! Okay, seriously, you truly don't want to be as small as the doctor says you should be. For someone coming from the opposite side of the fence, it wouldn't be good for you and you would hate it.

Best of luck to you and your family members. Just remember, with weight loss comes the NEED to shop!

    1. Haha Steph, I would definitely be willing to donate some extra poundage!! LOL I SO wish it were so easy.

And yeah I thought the weight the Dr. told me was a little crazy, I just dont see me being so small, Ive never been that weight in all my adult life, and I was very happy with my weight before I had the boys. Soo... Im not gonna kill myself to get to that weight. I just want to be happy and healthy!

Thanks for the encouragement! And I will def be glad to shop for some new SMALLER clothes! ♥

  16. Best of luck to you!! My hubby & I recently (like, last night, haha) started a workout routine so we're in a similar boat. One of our biggest helps for dieting has been watching our "snack" foods, so we are eating a lot more fruits and drinking more water. We also REALLY enjoy the Slimfast shakes, it makes a great snack with only 190 calories. I also bought the "Eat This, Not That" book which gives the healthiest options for when you do want fast food & guidelines for good grocery shopping also. Also we're really focusing on getting different veggies in our meals and taking a multivitamin (we take the Vitafusion multivitamin, it's an adult gummy vitamin so we actually WANT to take it each morning). We are going to the grocery store later this week to pick up stuff for green smoothies too.

Here are some blogs I've written about a yummy, healthy baked oatmeal (http://www.brittanywrites21.blogspot.com/2010/12/diet-is-working.html) and green smoothies (http://www.brittanywrites21.blogspot.com/2010/04/42810.html)

I do have some healthy recipes on there too, one that comes to mind is the most recent Southwestern Breakfast Wreath. Good luck, and you look adorable in your pics.

  26. Hey! i really like your attitude about all this! you seem like such a lovely girl!
i have one or two recommendations if you'd like to hear them.... ones that arent that widely known, but very useful!

id reccommend trying to completely cut out and sweet drinks. that includes soda, fruit juice, and coffee. herbal tea is the best thing for flavored drinks or just squeezing a lemon into some water. the high sugar content of any sort of sweet drink is one of the worst things you could do for yourself.

also, theres this study that shows that if you do 20-30 minutes or more of cardio before you eat breakfast changes your metabolism, and helps you shed the pounds faster because you dont have to burn off what you ate THEN start burning off everything else. its definitely worked wonders for me!

also if you can try to cut your bread intake down to maybe 1 meal a day that would also be good. it slows down your digestive system and makes you slower in general because trying to digest it takes more energy than other foods.
    anyways! good luck!
