Tell us a little about yourself and Your blog.
I am Melissa from The Life of a Not So Ordinary Wife. I'm just a girl in love with many things including God, my husband, reading novels, sewing, baking, couponing, graphic design, blogging and so much more!My blog is a place where I can expose my heart to the world. I'm not too good at talking about what I'm feeling, but writing it down, now that I can do! My husband and I have struggled with infertility our whole marriage and I feel like God has really given me a heart for those women dealing with the same issues! You can read more about our story on the "About Me" section of my blog.
How did you first get involved with blogging?
Well I started secretly blogging for just me in 2011 and then my family found out and told me to get the word out. Once I did that in February 2012, I was amazed at how big the blogging world was and totally fell in love with the people, the community and the day to day writing.
How do you come up with material/content for your blog each day, What inspires you?
I am a pastor's kid and I work mostly just for my dad's church and so our lives our crazy busy which leads to some fun posts for sure. I also have a zillion hobbies from sewing to baking to photography to who knows what.
What has been the most challenging moment in being a blogger?
All the work that is involved. When I first started trying to get the word out about my blog I was just blown away by how much work was involved. Not only did I have to write almost everyday for my blog but I had to do guest posts for others, a lot of social networking, giveaways and so on. So time management definitely needed to be worked on. But don't get me wrong I love every minute of my busy schedule.
Name some of the bloggers whom you look up to and why?
Some of my all time favorites would have to be The Letter 4, Living in Yellow, and Casey Leigh. The way their blogs are designed and the way they write is just such an inspiration!
If someone was interested in blogging, what would be a few things you would suggest?
Write the way you want to write, don't try to copy the way your favorite bloggers write, it just never seems to work. People are going to stay because they like the unique you!
What networking do you do, that you feel helps your blog the most?
I used to be obsessed with Facebook but I really feel TWITTER is the social networking tool for bloggers. The interaction you get with other bloggers and your readers is just so beneficial. I would say Twitter is a definite must.
What goals do you have, if any, for your blog right now and in the future?
Right now I am doing a lot of guest posts and advertisement to try and get the word out, so that in return I can get a good stable following for my blog.
What has been the best thing about blogging so far, feel free to share any exciting triumphs or milestones you have had or reached! :)
The best thing about blogging hands down would be the friendships I have made! There are some fabulous ladies out there and if you don't say Hello first, you might miss out on some AMAZING friendships!
