Its Wednesday and time again for another Blog-erview!!!
If you are new here, find out about the Blog-erview Series,
as well as a list of previous blog-erviews {here}!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Tell us a little about yourself and Your blog
My name is Mindy and I blog over at My Life As Mindy. I am a twenty something special ed teacher who is navigating life with her boyfriend, coffee in hand and a prayer in her heart. I tend to blog whatever comes to my mind, but it is always how I see life! In the past few years, I have realized how much I love writing.
I started blogging in March of 2010 with the encouragement from a parent whose daughter I was tutoring. However, it didn't really go anywhere. Skip forward to January 2011. After I bought my house, I realized that being a first time homeowner was an adventure! Combined that with being a full time Masters Student and teacher, my life was an adventure! In 2011, I blogged on and off through out the year. In January 2012, I stumbled a crossed my first linky parties and met some amazing women. I soon started to see my stats grow slowly.
- How do you come up with material/content for your blog each day, What inspires you?
I have a few different methods to my blogging. I started by writing Top 10 Tuesday and 5 Minute Fridays. Then I started linking up to craft links and Wordless Wednesdays. On other days, I just tend to write what comes to mind. I am still learning what is natural for me to write.
- What has been the most challenging moment in being a blogger?
I think the hardest part is finding my niche. I am not a mom- so I don't have cute kid stories. I am a special ed teacher, but I am held accountable to confidentiality laws. I love to craft, but I am not very good at creating lots of things. Get the picture? So last month, I just realized I don't need a niche to be in. It is OK to just be myself!
- Name some of the bloggers whom you look up to and why?
Becca at Our Crazy Boys has been my biggest supporter & encourager. I am so lucky to have her in my real life {we met at work} and my bloggy life. Recently, Kelly at Live.Laugh.Rowe. has been a HUGE help! She gives me so many ideas and has helped patiently explaining some blog basics. I hope to give back to someone one day what she has given me! My friend Jesse, The Happy Go Lucky Vegan, has been inspiring also! I love seeing her follow her dreams and embrace great opportunities!
- If someone was interested in blogging, what would be a few things you would suggest?
Have fun with it! Try not to feel like you are competing with others, but learn from them. Ask lots of questions and just start putting yourself out there!
- What networking do you do, that you feel helps your blog the most?
Right now, I am trying to link up to different weekly parties and blog hops. Plus, trying to leave lots of comments & respond to all of mine.
- What goals do you have, if any, for your blog right now and in the future?
I want to get up to 100 followers! Once I get to 100 followers, I want to get a Facebook page. I would also like to start writing reviews for products and maybe articles for online magazines.
- What has been the best thing about blogging so far, feel free to share any exciting triumphs or milestones you have had or reached!
I think the best part about blogging is the fact that I get to have a creative outlet. It is a combination of everything I love {photography, crafts, writing & connecting with people!}. I was excited to jump from 5 readers to 26 in a matter of weeks. I am hoping to reach 100 by August!
- Is there anything else you would like to share with my readers?
I would love for you to stop by, leave a comment and say Hi! I hope to meet up with you soon!
Mindy, Thank you so much for your interview!
If I could give a word of advice....?
DONT WAIT to get a facebook page for your blog!!
Do it NOW! Facebook is AMAZING for networking and advertising.
Plus Facebook grows faster than your blog does, and will help your blog grow!
I believe I started my facebook page for Agape Love Designs,
a year after I started my blog, and my facebook page has over 2000 likes!
My blog is just under 1000, right now.
Now thats 1000 more people who have the opportunity to see my blog posts,
and to talk to and network with!
If you want to grow your blog, get your fb page started today. :)
Ok off my soap box!
Much Love & Hugs,
Thank you, Maria! I feel special that you featured me! With your encouragement & others, I am working on the Facebook page... Hopefully within the week!
