For those who are curious about my weight loss so far, I will cut to the chase right away.
It has been 4 1/2 months since I started this weight loss journey, and I have lost a total of 55 lbs!
Just the other day I stepped into an OLD pair of size 12 capri's.
Again in 4 1/2 months I have gone from a size 20 to a size 12. (dont think I ever mentioned my size before! Eek!)
The feeling has been amazing, wonderful... I'm so excited about my progress.
Of course now with such a "big" weight loss it has become very noticeable.
And I do love that people are noticing, however I have to laugh because it also comes with that question.
The question that EVERYONE asks, in various ways, but basically its the same question...
What's your secret? How are you doing it? What (diet) are you on? What are you eating!?
I'd like to tell you all a little story...
When my weight loss FIRST started becoming apparent, one of the sweet ladies in my church came to me.
She's smiling wide and excitedly says 'Wow you are looking great! What are you on!?'
That last part took me somewhat by surprise, maybe because it was the first time someone had asked it.
But I just smiled and quickly replied 'Oh nothing, I'm just...'
Her smile quickly faded and she let out a disappointed sigh, saying:
'Ooh... your doing it the RIGHT healthy way, gottcha. Well... you look great.'
Just in case this sounds misleading as I'm writing it, I want to say.. this wasn't mean at all!
And I took no offense. Turns out she was looking into a few diets, like weight watchers and such and was just curious. Plus, she is so sweet and she has been complimenting me each Sunday since. :)
I just had to laugh to myself at that little conversation. Why?
Well because I HAVE BEEN THERE!
But, haven't we all?
You see someone appear to "suddenly" be dropping weight like its nothing.
And you're curious... You wonder what IS she doing? How IS she losing the weight? What's her secret?
And you secretly wish she would tell you this totally EASY way she is dropping the weight!?
You secretly wish there is some amazing diet that allows you to eat anything, do nothing and still lose the weight.
Or is that just me?
The somewhat disappointing truth, though, is that it is NOT easy.
It takes a lot of HARD work, it takes sweat and tears, it takes self control, it takes time and patience...
And most importantly it takes NO EXCUSES, and simply takes just STARTING!
The "secret" to losing weight is following these TWO (not so easy) steps:
1.) Eat Right
2.) Exercise - daily if you can

The "secret" is not falling for those fad diets, this is a LIFESTYLE change!
The reasons why diets dont work is because you will lose weight while on the diet,
then gain it all back once you go back to your "normal" eating routine.
I know I can never go back to my "normal" eating, it wasn't healthy, balanced or right.
The "secret" is getting up and getting active at least 3 times a week.
Or daily if you can.. even 20 minutes a day is a good start.
You have got to exercise to lose weight, to tone and build muscles, and to maintain a healthy weight.
I wish I could offer a big easy secret way for everyone to drop the weight fast.
BELIEVE ME!
I've cried out my frustrations to The Hubs, I've pleaded with God in prayer.
Wishing there could be an easier faster way. A way that didn't hurt so much, that wasn't so hard.
But on the BRIGHT side... I can offer this as encouragement;
Because of this hard journey I have not only LOST weight, but I have GAINED so much more.
I know that sounds cliche' or cheesy, but it is SO true.
♥I have gained confidence.
♥I have gained a better, even closer relationship with The Hubs.
♥I have gained new friends.
(yes I mean all of you who have cheered me on through this journey so far!)
♥I have gained a new perspective on beauty, on eating and on life.
And after realizing why I was feeling full but not satisfied,
♥I have gained a better prayer life and closer relationship with God.
So I tell you, the hard work is WORTH it and you wont regret it.
You may regret that doughnut you ate, or over eating at dinner..
But you will never regret the day you starting getting healthy.
As the saying goes "Nothing Easy is every worth doing/having."
Now that my big "secret" is out, lets not keep it!
Spread the word and share this post. ;)
And if you are inspired to, maybe put it to good use.
Much Love & Hugs my sweet friends!
Thanks for reading. ♥

ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work and Congrats!
Thank you so much. :)
DeleteIn 2009, I lost about 45 pounds in about 3 months. Lots of time at the gym and watching what I was eating. You know, the right way... ;) Then I got pregnant. Only gained 18 lbs. Left the hospital less than my pre-prego weight. Awesome right? Well most of it stayed off while my daughter was nursing. Now, she is 2, and I find myself back to where I was pre-2009 weight loss. =( So discouraging. Last Monday, I started back on my meal plan from before. Not a diet, but consciously trying to incorporate whole foods, good protiens, low carb into my meals. Yesterday, I worked out for the first time in a long time. It's a start! Your journey is encouraging me to get things back in gear! <3
ReplyDeleteGood for you girl! You got a cheerleader here in your corner! You can do this! (I can say this NOW) The hardest part, truly, is JUST STARTING! I had wanted to lose weight and get on track for a LONG time. I always had an excuse and never started. Once I got started and the ball was rolling I was able to keep on it. You can do this! :)
DeleteGood for you! that is wonderful - you are such a beauty no matter what the weight, tho.
ReplyDeleteAW well thank you so much, Pamela, for that kind compliment! I appreciate the encouragement and support! ♥
DeleteI went from a size 22 to a size 12 in approximately 7 months...I lost a around 70 lbs.
ReplyDeleteMine was less to do with a weight loss plan and more to do with an illness that took forever to diagnose and then longer to stabilize. That being said, once I was able to eat properly again I started to gain weight. Now I eat a fairly healthy vegan diet but notice that if I eat anything sugary it's flab city for me. I really need to make sure I eat properly and do cardio at least 4 times a week or I gain weight.
*Sigh* It's hard work but you're right, I feels so much better about myself and just in general when I eat right.
Wow, what a crazy ride that must have been! Can you believe at times I had prayed, wished I would get sick so I could lose my appetite or lose some "easy" pounds... ugh sounds awful to admit now... :( Terrible, I know!
DeleteThanks for sharing a little bit of your story with me. Oh and I definitely feel you about "flab city!" haha Im still working on mine!
Congratulations, this is awesome! I am struggling to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I'll lose weight, crave cake, eat the cake, crave something else, eat that as well, and spiral downwards until I'm no longer buying healthy items. Then I have to start from zero again. I just stocked my fridge with fresh fruits and vegetables and made sugar-free jellos/popsicles to hopefully curve the sugar cravings, so I'm crossing my fingers! Did you ever give yourself cheat days?
ReplyDeleteOh I feel you Sarah! Its SO hard when the cravings come at you! To be honest, I DIDNT Give myself ANY cheat days! I knew that if I tasted or gave in at all I would cave completely! I was very strict for these first 4 months! And I am glad that I was. I understand people have cheat days to help so they dont feel deprived, But I just knew myself and I couldnt be trusted not to take it overboard! lol Being so strict was hard, but I tell you it was worth it!
DeleteI am a little less strict on myself now, because I have got more of a handle on my eating habits, and my portions. Plus I know I have shrunk my stomach because if I do happen to eat a little extra I have a stomach ache... so that prevents me from going overboard now. Even though I am a little less strict with myself now, Im still not really allowing myself any sweets, though, (unless its sugar free) because I still need to lose about 50 more pounds. So... I feel your struggle. It really can be a battle. But you will eventually get used to it, your body will start craving the healthy food more. And it will get easier! Promise!
Let me know if you ever need someone to talk to or encourage you! I am here for you girl!
Cupcake!!! What an accomplishment! You are a True Beauty, NOT just on the outside but inside as well. Deep, deep inside the darkest places in you, you still have light.
