And I am no different, I had been thinking about what I wanted to resolve in the new year.
I found that I didn't have a huge list. Just a couple personal things, and then some things for my blog.
Personally, I'm continuing my weight loss journey. My goal weight is 140.
My desire is to get there by the 'one year' mark, which would be March 1st!
Ive got 30 more pounds to go - 30 pounds in 3 months?
Definitely possible, after all, I had lost 70 lbs in 7 months (I was at a stand still Nov. & Dec.)!
The other personal thing on my list has to do with my marriage.
Its a lot more personal, but basically is just to be a lot more loving (physically).
I have always been reserved when it comes to the love language of physical touch...
But its The Hubs #1 love language...
I want to speak to him in his love language without any reservations or hesitation.
Sounds like a "duh" kind of thing... But we all show love differently, this is one area I need work on.
As for my blog, well if you have been a follower long enough you know I am not the "stick with one area of interest" kind of blogger. And, though that wont change (a lot), because that's just who I am, I do resolve to be a lot more focused. After a few years of blogging, I think I have finally found the topics I most enjoy blogging about, which as you can see in my header include Faith, Fashion, Fitness and Beauty.
Of course you can still expect a crafty tutorial, free printables, diy jewelry, a little photography, and maybe some home decor ideas here and there. But for the most part, I plan on being more focused, and not so much all over the place.
Another goal I have is to connect more. To be honest, for the first two - yes TWO - years of blogging I had no clue what I was doing! I'll admit I'm a little envious of those new bloggers who got it right away and were able to grow their blog tremendously within the first 6 months/year! ANYWAYS... It took me a lot longer, it wasn't really until last year (my 3rd year blogging) to really step out of my shell. Connect with, sponsor, and make real friendships with other bloggers!
I desire so much to do more of that. Connect. Make friends. Really interact, not just be in my own little bloggy world. The blog world is so HUGE, and there are so many amazing women to learn from, that I would love to get to know more! I recently had the opportunity to meet in real life, one of my blogging friends (aka my bloggy soul sistah) Andrea! It was so much fun. We had breakfast, went shopping, talked and it felt like we had known each other and have been close friends for years. It was amazing....
I definitely want more of that!
The last bloggy business resolution has to do with my shop. Originally I thought I wanted to have it back up and running by the beginning of this year sometime. But as time goes by it seems to be getting pushed to the back burner more and more. Though opening up my shop again is a BIG desire of mine, I have truly been enjoying being a support of OTHER people's shops.
I love browsing, buying from, and supporting other handmade shops. I love getting the opportunity to receive items to wear and review, I love advertising for others so much right now. Its been a blast. One of my recent sponsors who's shop was so new when she started advertising with me has grown so much in the last year! Seeing that, and knowing that I helped in the process, makes me SO happy. I honestly get so much joy from that. From seeing and being apart of helping these amazing women that I have come to know, grow and succeed in their dreams!
So right now I guess I will just see where things go with time and my shop. It is my hope to get it going again. But right now I'm content with it being on the back burner. So I guess my goal is to make a decision on whether it will for sure open back up again, or just needs to be a closed chapter in my life. I'd love to hear your thoughts on that... Would anyone even be interested in me opening my shop again?
Well anyways... Now that you have heard about my 2013 goals/resolutions, I would LOVE to hear about yours! So be sure to leave a comment! Remember, its my goal to connect more! Commenting will definitely help with that. ♥
But before you go, Ive asked a few of the lovely ladies from my sidebar to share one of their resolutions for their personal life and one for their blog/shop! Here they are:

Great goals! I don't have specific goals this year, but I did choose my first Word of the Year: FLOURISH. 2012's word would sadly have been stagnation, as I went through a bleak period of just...nothingness. This year, regardless of my circumstances, I want to FLOURISH in all aspects of my life- my walk with Christ, my marriage, my friendships, my artsy side, etc. This word gives me freedom and yet still focus.
ReplyDeleteI havent really done a word of the year before. But If I did, I would probably copy yours! LOVE that.. Flourish. How perfect. What a great one Brittany!
DeleteHey Maria,
ReplyDeleteSounds like you have it figured out for the most part, and I love that your goals are not so unrealistic that you won't be able to achieve them. That's a mistake I think we make often, setting goals that are soooo far stretched that when we don't reach them, we feel bad.
Why DID you close your shop mama? You know I loved your stuff, and would be super happy if you opened it up again. I know how much you enjoyed creating, and you know FOR A FACT you blessed many lucky women with your heartfelt jewelry. You are so good at creating a story behind everything, that sometimes THAT is just as special as the jewelry itself. I think you have so much to offer other women, and I hope you continue to do so. Creating your jewelry was such an amazing way to do that. Plus your hair accessories were super awesome too :)
Anyways mama, love ya!! I am sooooooo proud of everything you've accomplished and I'm SOOOO happy to have watched you from almost the start!!
Hugs, Bella
Aw Bella,
DeleteYou are just too kind. Thank you for all that. Means so much to me. Truth is, YES, I do love creating. And most of the special jewelry I created.. Especially the birds nest ones is what keeps me holding on. I want to get back to that. I get emailed all the time about them.
The reason though for closing, was just time! With all I was doing to try to focus more on my blog and growing, as well as with all I had to do with my weight loss journey, as well as everyday life being a mom and wife... I just didnt have the time! And I have still not found the time to get back into the groove of having a shop right now. Im sort of torn at the moment...
But thank you so much for the encouragement! It means so much!! HUGS!
I'm going to check out 'My Life as Mindy' shop out right now for her grand opening!!
ReplyDeleteYay! She has such cute earrings! You will love them!
DeleteGreat goals! I'm hoping to connect more with bloggers, too. I'm very new to a "real" (not free) blog so I know I need to reach out more. Here are my goals for the year:

Hi Maria!
ReplyDeleteSo my 2013 resolution is to be more organized! I am trying to clean my house in such a way that it stays clean- so that everything has its place. This includes a dedicated little section of my house for my scarf shop (instead of every room of the house haha). I also want to be more organized with my time!
Also, I just want to say, I already see you as a huge supporter of small businesses. I know it's encouraged me when you include my scarves in a blog post, and it also gives me traffic. You are always promoting and enjoying handmade things by artisans everywhere, even if you get nothing out of it, so THANK YOU!
xoxo

I guess I could say my resolution is to loss weight this year. I have put so much weight on and I am determined to get it off. I started my weight loss journey the day after Christmas because I'm serious about getting healthy and I didn't want this to be a "resolution" that went to the way side 2 weeks into the new year. its slow going but I'm not giving up. My other resolutions for the year would be to keep a clearner house and fine enjoyment in keeping a clean house as well as to be more loving and patient in my Marriage. I tend to take his love for granted sometimes and just assume that regardless of my actions(or words) he'll love me anyway. on a different note I think you should blog about your shop/craft room and how you keep organized. I am not a super crafter but I keep finding myself reorganizing over and over trying to keep my little corner somewhat neat. I think it would be fun to see how super crafters like yourself and your fellow etsy shops/bloggers keep their craft area neat and tidy :)
ReplyDeleteLets be bloggy friends! Haha, I'm kind of like you in the networking aspect of blogging. I just kind of do my own thing, but I would love to be able to meet other bloggers and really get out there and expand. Definitely my weakness.

Good job...you can do it!...I feel like that about my shop, but mostly because mailing items out is so hard for me to do on time....anyway, I think ever
ReplyDeleteGot cut off:(... I think everything you make is adorable and you are a great inspiration to many
ReplyDeleteLets chat about the marriage stuff...I have been there where you are at and had to come out of my shell. I am guessing you have read the 5 love languages by Gary Chapman...since you talked about his Love Language.
ReplyDeleteWhat about your goal of being focused, I would object that.Being the only blogger whose posts I never miss I think it's because of the diversity things you cover and which are really interesting.
ReplyDeleteBTW, our resolutions coincide a lot:)

Your blog is one of my favorites, and I don't care if it's "all over the place" or not! ;) Also, I'm in the same boat with you on your marriage goal. We are struggling with that one SO MUCH!
