Hello and welcome back to day 2 of PINK WEEK! Tuesday through Friday, I will be
sharing how I styled my pink skinnies... So be sure to come back and
check them out. And if you like what you see, pin it, tweet it or share it! {See Day #1 here}Today I bring to you pink skinnies with chambray! Have you jumped aboard the chambray bandwagon yet? I'm not sure if I'm completely loving it yet or not.
I'm usually the type of person who hates a new trend until its been around long enough to either be almost out of style or I see it long enough for it to grow on me. For example... Flats, hated them! Well I thought they were cute, but just not on ME. I have big feet, a size 9, and I thought flats looked awful on me...Made my feet look bigger. It took a long time before I decided to buy a pair, and feel confident in them. Before that I would try them on, feel insecure thinking my feet just looked HUGE in them, and then walk out of the store. But now, they are my go-to shoes!
Another trend - skinny jeans. Being the big girl that I WAS, just the NAME scared me. No way was I gonna wear skinny jeans with my big butt and fat thighs! But I had seen plus size girls wear them and look GREAT! I just wasn't that confident, then. I stayed away from that trend for a while. My flares were my best friends! :) Then a little before I started my weight loss journey, my sisters had talked me into buying a pair. They convinced me I looked great. I was iffy... But got them anyways and ended up loving them. Now as you can tell, that's mostly all I wear.
Now "Chambray" I also instantly hated! My first thoughts... They are JEAN SHIRTS people! Ew. Why is jean so popular right now? And whats this "chambray" everyone keeps calling it? HAHA Yeah I like living under my comfortable rock sometimes. ;) I just didn't GET it. I wasn't liking it at all. However, like I said, as things do... They grow on me. I started seeing more and more outfit posts with people wearing chambray. And my mind went from "ew" to "ah- that's cute". I started really liking the way people were styling chambray. I still thought (and partially still sort of think) the trend is not for me though. Like, its cute and looks great, ON OTHERS, but not me.
But I decided to be on the look out for a chambray shirt that maybe I could try to work into my wardrobe. You know, test it out. Since I was iffy and didn't want to spend a whole lot of money on something I might hate. I found this shirt super cheap at Walmart. I had a few ideas for it, and after trying them I didn't like them. Then tried it with my pink skinny jeans and was pretty pleased. I wouldn't call this my favorite outfit, but I like it enough.
What do you think? Chambray, Yay or Nay? Should I keep this outfit in rotation? And what are your thoughts on chambray? Also, whats your usual reaction to new trends? DO you jump on board right away, or are you more skeptical and wait till the buzz dies down a little before jumping on board? By the way, if you have outfit posts wearing chambray, please do leave a link in the comments! I'd love to have more inspiration on how to wear it. ♥

I LOVE those shoes! The shirt is okay, I'm not crazy about the "jean shirt" faze either. But I do have a jean jacket that I L-O-V-E, for what it's worth.
ReplyDeleteJean Jackets I DO like! My sister has a crop jean jacket that is so cute! Chambray just seems different... I still need more time for it to grow on me. But Im sure soon enough I will grow to love it... Like everything else! LOL
DeleteTotally feeling you on the "I don't get trendy till it's almost not trendy anymore" boat.
ReplyDeleteFlats, just realized they are awesome about 3 months ago.
Chambray, still not on board with - or maybe it's just I haven't found the shirt I like enough.
But what I wanted to really comment on is the fact that I LOVE that you are debuting beautiful outfits that are so "downhome" meaning they aren't Chanel and Nordstrom brands that easily would break my clothing budget with one purchase. Thanks for that because I love surfing fashion blogs and it's hard to really find that. I'm always like "oh that's so cute.. but I'd have to save for 4 months to get it".
Just wanted to say thanks!!
Well thank you so much! Im glad to hear you say that, because sometimes I worry what people will think - To be a Walmart clothes shopper! HAHA But their clothing selection has really improved! Ans I am with you... I cant afford all those big brands! So I do enjoy showing that fashion can still be amazing and affordable! ♥
DeleteI disagree, chambray is timeless. It has been around for years. It also goes with anything. Throw it on with a fancy shirt and you instantly have a casual outfit. I think the particular shirt you got would be cute with a maxi dress, Just because it ties in the front. Remember the 90s when that was the style, then it faded...Try a chambray shirt that is not so trendy, clean lines. It will be versatile and always in style. *love the flats*
ReplyDeleteIm still not 100% loving chambray, but im warming up to it! LOL And its so funny that you say this shirt would look good with a maxi dress, because I was actually thinking of pairing it with a high waisted skirt. Not sure how it will look, but wanna try it. And speaking of maxi dresses, I dont have one, but really want one!
DeleteIm excited to see you in October for WOF, because we can shop together and you can help me find a better chambray shirt and outfit that will work with it! :)
Hi Maria, on you I'd say chambray is a "YAY" :)

DeleteSuper cute! I saw that shirt at Wal-Mart, but I can't wear shirts tied around my waist like that. You look gorgeous though!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Amanda! Im not quite a fan of the tie around the waist aspect of it...Feel like it makes my belly look bigger! LOL But Im Gonna try it with a skirt or dress next and see if I like it better. :)
DeleteLove the pink and chambray together and I totally dig the chambray. Although I called it denim before I was corrected. LOL ;) So many ways you can style it! Just like styling Pink Skinnies! Super cute!! Love your flats too! :) Thanks for visiting my blog! Happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteThank you... I was the same.. Im like its jean or denim, and was wondering why people were calling it chambray! BAHAHA #behindthetimes
DeleteMy 15 1/2 daughter saw me reading your blog and said " oooh love her outfit" so I would yay!
ReplyDeleteoh hahaha Love it! that sort of made my day! LOL #AmICoolNow!? tehe
DeleteI love it!! Took me a while to jump on all 3 of those bandwagons too.. I'm a 9.5 so flats were not my thing.. Working on my second year of owning several pair now :)
ReplyDeleteDenim shirt (chambray), I have bought 5-6 and just recently found the one I love.. At Goodwill too.. To bad it is long sleeve and will be too hot before long
I love the pink skinnies.. I just recently bought me a black pair (that I wear w the denim shirt) and I have a turquoise pair on order from Kohl's but I would never buy the pink. Until I seen them on you.. Adorable.. But I still may be too old (turned 38 yesterday) and too chubby for them...
I say you you are never too old to rock some color! :)And as someone who was a lot bigger than I am now, and have plus sized friends who rock colored skinnies, I say dont let that stop you! Curvy girls can rock the trends too! ♥
DeleteWell done! I love all of the pink tied together with the chambray shirt. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI proudly wear a size 9!! Rock those shoes, girl!!:)
Yes, glad Im not alone! Everyone I know has small feet, so I used to feel so insecure! Thankfully I am a lot more confident than I used to be. ♥
DeleteI LOVE those shoes!! Love this post!
