Today I am sharing somewhat of a rare look for me. Usually I am all about bright fun colors, but a few weekends ago The Hubs and I planned a date night (we watched The Host, keep reading for my thoughts on the movie!). So I decided I wanted to try a sultry smokey eye for our night out together. And I actually love how it turned out. ♥ (Except I really wish I would have blended the crease a bit better. Oh well!)
The colors I used for this look are:
Matte Black
Karma (Purple)
Golden Tiara
French Vanilla
All of these shadows were used with Shadow Poxy, and can be found at My Beauty Addiction:
I also did something else a little out of character for me with this look... I wore lipstick with a bold eye. I'm not sure why, but I'm much more outgoing when it comes to playing up my eyes... As for the rest of my face, ESPECIALLY my lips, I am a little more reserved. But I fell in love with this GORGEOUS lipstick from My Beauty Addiction in the shade 'Passionfruit'. And I surprised even myself when I put it on and it complimented my eyes so well. ♥Date Night Details.....Hubs and I ate out at Olive Garden. ♥
I had my favorite, the Chicken and Gnocchi Soup. SO good. Plus Salad, and yes I had some breadsticks. Who can resist!? ;) And I even had a glass of my favorite wine, Moscato!
We also watched a movie. The Host. It was good. I have not read the book, so I cant say how it compares. But it was a LONG movie, so I'm guessing it stayed pretty true to the book as far as details. There were a lot of details! But of course there are always parts from the book that the movie leaves out. I'd love to read the book soon to see for myself. ♥
The Hubs liked the movie too, surprisingly, cause he is very picky about movies! BUT whats funny is that he said it reminded him of Twilight. I KNEW it was based on the book written by Stephanie Meyer (Author of Twilight) he DIDN'T. So I was actually on the lookout for similarities and didn't really notice any. So when The Hubs mentioned that it reminded him of Twilight I was sort of shocked. I was like well it IS based off a book written by the same author as Twilight. And he was just like Oh wow, I didn't even know that.
So I asked him why he thought that, because I knew about the Author and didn't notice any similarities. And he told me is was because of the whole "love triangle" thing. I dont want to spoil the movie for anyone who hasn't seen it or read the book. But it wasn't like a REAL love triangle.. Because technically Melanie and Wanda are two different people (souls). But with the one body thing... It makes it seem like that. So I agreed that in that way, yes it was similar to twilight.
Overall we both liked the movie. It was pretty neat, the idea behind it, and how the souls lived. I also loved how it ended.... Who doesn't love a happy ending? I did think it was kind of long. But I think if I had read the book and it was shorter I may have been complaining that it was too short! So I'm guessing that those who read the book probably liked it that way? I'd love to hear from those of you who read the book and watched the movie! ♥

Love the makeup!
ReplyDeleteand yes, I've read the book, several years ago. so, before I see the movie, I'm re-reading it again. The book was very dry/slow at first, then was a tornado at the end. starting the book again, it's not as dry, becuz I know what is happening, and can see it from a different viewpoint. I can't wait to see the movie!
Love the makeup! I like the pop of gold with the purple on the eyes. And that lip color is gorgeous on you!
ReplyDeleteLove the lipstick <3
