Hello sweet friends, and Happy {Makeup} Monday to you, be sure to stick around and link up your beauty posts below!
Since it's
Memorial Day I wanted to created a special look in honor of this day and in remembrance of our fallen heroes. I know that to a lot of people, Memorial day is just another "fun" holiday. An extra day off, and a great 3 day week end. We often lose site of what it's really all about. Remembering and honoring all Americans who have
died while in Military service. I always get a little choked up when I think about it.
If you have followed my blog long enough you know that I dont talk A
LOT about The Hubs on the blog, because he prefers his privacy, but I do on occasion and you
might know that
The Hubs served in our military,
The Army to be exact. You'd also know that he was injured during one of
his year long deployments in Iraq, and was medically retired. You'd also know
that he lost two close friends in that war. Talking about it, still puts
a lump in my throat and brings tears to my eyes... And I know its
something that is still hard for The Hubs too.
I'd like
to mention that, because of that The Hubs really doesn't like when
people thank him today. I know a lot of people tend to want to thank our
military men and women, whether active duty or veterans on Memorial
Day... But the way The Hubs see's it, is this day is not HIS day (
Veterans Day
is "his day"). This day belongs to the ones who are no longer with us. The ones who gave their all to defend and protect our freedom.
I'm not saying dont thank or be thankful for our military men &
women... They deserve all kinds of thanks, love and support from us! But
if you do and they seem uncomfortable about the "Thanks" today... This
may be why.
We can still of course enjoy this day,
because we should enjoy the freedom our service men have fought and died
for!
Freedom isn't free and we are beyond blessed here in America. We can remember and honor those who gave their lives by proudly displaying an American flag, visiting cemeteries or memorials and leaving flags or flowers, or sharing with our children/families about why this day is special.
For this look I wanted to create something patriotic, but not overwhelmingly so, so it wouldn't be confused with a 4th of July - Independence Day inspired look. I wanted something that was specific to Memorial Day, so I went with a darker more bold look with a pop patriotism.
So for this look I used My Beauty Addiction Mineral Shadows in:
Black - Lid
Red Hot - Lining Top Lashes & on Lower Lash line
Pearl - Lower Lash Line
Royal - Lower Lash Line
French Vanilla - Inner Corner & Brow Bone
Twinkle Dust Gold - Lid to Brow Bone
(I turned Red Hot into a liquid liner for my top lashes using MBA's
wetliner foiling serum)
