Make Your Own Lip Balm Kit - Review

Hello friends, thanks so much for stopping by today. Ive got a fun little review to share with you. I received this DIY Lip Balm Kit, c/o Uncommon Goods* and had a great time doing this little beauty project with my daughter Kiah. The kit retails for $40 and comes with just about everything you need to make 5 tins of lip balm, you can find the kit on the site here

Uncommon Goods is such a fun site with a variety of items for home, garden, entertainment, they even have jewelry and a lot more fun kits to try... And so much more! If you're looking for a fun and unique Valentines Day gift, visit this page, for some great ideas!
As I mentioned already, the kit comes with just about everything you need to make 5 tins of lip balm....
Which includes: 5 sturdy metal tins, 5 Sticker Labels, Cocoa Butter, Beeswax, Sunflower Oil, Spearmint Essential Oil, Recipe Card, and even information cards about the lip balm contents.

Optional (but recommended) items NOT included are 1 Vitamin E oil Capsule, and Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips. I purchased the chocolate chips, but totally missed seeing that the Vitamin E oil was not included. Since it was option, and Kiah was anxious to do this project, we went ahead and made it without. I'll mention later in this post why I think using the Vitamin E Oil would have been better!
Kiah poured in all the ingredients and then we took turns stirring the ingredients....
It took quite some time for all the ingredients to melt together.... Maybe about 30 minutes. We had the stove on pretty low, since we didn't want to burn anything! So we took turns stirring, and stirring, and stirring, until everything was melted and mixed perfectly.
Once everything was all melted, Kiah applied the labels to the tin lids, and I poured the mixture into the tin bases. Then we left them to cool for about another 30 minutes.
Over all, Kiah and I really enjoyed this kit! It was nice that it came with everything you absolutely needed. And though we didn't  use the Vitamin E oil, I would definitely recommend adding it. Our lip balms did turn out a bit firm... So you really need to work your finger into it, warming it up so that you can apply to your lips! I have a feeling that the Vitamin E oil would have softened it up a bit.

Still the lip balm is wonderful! Both Kiah and I used it the night we made it and it stayed on all night, and kept our lips very moisturized. Kiah even noticed her chapped lips were healed up the next morning! You can hear it from herself in this quick keek video:
