Hello Fitness Friends! Today I've got a fitness update to share with you. Lately I have not been able to go to the gym much.... I have had to miss a lot of Zumba, which is my favorite way to workout! Its so much fun... But I have learned I cannot let - not being able to go to the gym - stop me from getting a workout in! So I thought I would share, what I have been doing to workout lately... Plain and simple, Jump Roping, using a weighted Jump Rope!
I had not really jumped rope since I was a kid... I almost forgot how much fun it really can be! But its also a REALLY great full body workout! I love that its (relatively) easy to do, doesn't cost a lot, and you can do it pretty much anywhere. Jumping rope can do it all – it works your legs, your abs, your arms, your heart, and your mind. It increases strength, agility, rhythm and coordination.
You can simply jump in place or spice things up with different tricks or exercises... Like doing double hops, jumping from side to side (as you can see my attempting in the photos above), or high knee jumps, and jumping really dramatically knees bent high in the hair... As pictured below..
I actually found a REALLY neat video on youtube, from boom to fit, showing 23 Jump Rope Exercises! I have not yet "mastered" them all... But I have been attempting them little by little. Its definitely a challenge, but its fun as well... And its a new way for me to workout - from home - which I just love!
This specific jump rope I am using is a weighted jump from I received c/o Source Health Fit. Its really neat because its sturdy and long (9') and can be adjusted. As you can see in the photo above, the handles unscrew and you can just knot the rope to adjust the length (which I had to do). I also like that the handle are very soft and comfortable. The weight are also removable.. And I assume you could probably change them out for heavier weights, but I am not sure. Or you can just remove the weights all together if you prefer not to use them!
So, how many of you are like me, and have been a little too busy to go to the gym? Or for those of you who just cant afford the gym at this time... What has been your go-to exercise at home or while traveling?
I'd love to hear about some of your at home exercise routines! Ive been enjoying jumping rope so much lately. And I definitely recommend adding it to your fitness routine, if you have not already! Maybe if I can get "good enough" I'll create my own jump rope workout video to share. ;) What do you think?

I received the jump rope mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
