Hello beauty babes and welcome, today I am back with another review for you! I recently received the Luminess Air Legend Airbrush system (pink) kit c/o Luminess Air and am very excited to share my thoughts with you. ♥ I am a total airbrush newbie, but I found this system to be extremely quick and easy to use. The system does include an instructional DVD, but whats great is that you can find several youtube videos with tips and application tutorials right on their website! These are a big help, and I watched quite a few of them while I waited to receive my Luminess Air System. So by the time I had it in hand, I already felt very familiar with it.
Luminess Air offers several basic kits to choose from ranging from $160-$249. Kits include Airbrush Compressor and Stylus, AC Adaptor, Instructional DVD & 1 Year Warranty!
You'll also get the following airbrush makeup included:
2 – 0.55oz bottles Ultra foundation
1 – 0.25oz bottle Blush
1 – 0.25oz Skin Brightening Glow
1 – 0.25oz Moisturizer/Primer
Depending on the kit you choose, you might also receive a bronzer or more bottles of foundation.
They also offer Pro Kits for a bit more money, which also include more product!
The compressor is also available in other colors and styles. I choose pink, as you can see, and its so pretty! I LOVE how light and compact it is, making it easy to take with you anywhere.

OK, so before I get to the details I'll mention something you may have already noticed in the photos below... Unfortunately the foundations in my kit were a touch too dark/orange for my skin tone. I received shade 5 and shade 6 of the 'Ultra' airbrush foundation. Shade 5 was a decent match for my skin, but shade 6 was very orange for me. When choosing a kit, you can select your shade range... I cannot remember if I had choose the "medium" shade or the "warm" shade range... But I definitely do need to purchase a lighter shade so I can adjust the color a touch. The great thing is that you can mix the foundations to custom create a shade that is perfect for you!
I ended up using a concealer to brighten up the makeup, as well as to help conceal my dark circles and more prominent blemishes. In the photo(s) below I wanted to show you the difference between my bare face along side my face with JUST the Airbrush Foundation (shade 5) and then the difference when using a concealer first (Urban Decay naked skin concealer 'light/warm') AND the Airbrush Foundation. While the airbrush foundation alone does a pretty great job at concealing my "imperfections" and evening out my skin, I definitely require a little extra coverage from a concealer. Luminess Air does have concealers available, but I was just going with what I had received along side what I had on hand.
Now, these next photos below show a side by side of my bare face (before) and (after) using all of the airbrush makeup provided in my kit; The Primer, Foundation, Blush and Brightening Glow (+ my concealer too). The results? Practically flawless makeup application that is light-weight, long wearing and absolutely fabulous!
To complete my makeup I did set my concealer (under my eyes) with powder
as well as added a slight touch of contour powder (on my nose &
hollows of my cheeks). Other than that, I left the airbrush makeup alone
to see how well it would wear on its own. And I am thrilled to report
that the makeup held up extremely well. By the end of the night, I could
barely notice, but there was some very slight fading of my makeup.
Probably from sweating and touching/wiping my face... It was a very hot
day and I was outside in the heat for a few hours. Yet, for the most
part my makeup still looked great at the end of the day! What impressed
me most was that everything on my face still looked very even! Whereas
other foundations would typically breakup (around my T-Zone) this one
didn't at all! Very impressive. The blush also looked just as vibrant as
when I first applied.
Now, aside from me picking out the wrong shade of foundation, and needing to use a concealer there was only ONE other thing that I'd say was an "negative" issue about using the airbrush system. And that would be that it kind of accentuated the larger pores on the side of my nose. What I noticed is that because it applies the foundation as a layer sprayed over your skin - it doesn't "fill in" your pores. If you use a regular liquid or cream foundation (whether its meant to be a pore-filler or not) product will still fill into your pores and they become (for the most part) less noticeable. With this though, I could just see (more clearly) open holes on the side of my nose where the foundation couldnt cover/fill in. And it wasn't attractive!!
With that being said, it was JUST on my nose that I had this issue. Maybe because the skin on my nose is a little bit different than the skin on the rest of my face. haha (does that make sense?) Anyways... Everywhere else the airbrush makeup looked amazing! And the good thing is it was an easy fix. I simply used a tiny bit of the Too Faced Primed & Poreless Primer on my nose and didnt have any pore issues after that.
On that note, I wanted to mention that I discovered Luminess Air has several "airbrush essentials" that I believe would benefit the little issues I had concerning my pores and dark circles! One is called Eraser which is meant to "erase" large pores along with redness/blotchy skin. The other is called X-Out which is a concealer specifically for dark circles and tired eyes! Lastly another item that I think is just a good idea overall is the Water-Proof Makeup Sealant for serious staying power (water-proof, sweat -proof and tear-proof) 18 Hour wear!! These are items that are going on my Must Buy List when I purchase a lighter foundation shade.
When I do get a lighter shade, I am thinking I'd love to film a demo video showing how the airbrush works, so you all can really see it in action! Let me know if you would be interested in that. :) Well, that about wraps it up, hope you all enjoyed this review! Let me know if you have any thoughts or questions. And if you are really familiar with airbrush makeup, I'd love to hear about your experience and any tips you might have to share. ♥
