Dry Skin Savers (Face Products)

Alright beauty babes, its the middle of Winter, and if your skin is anything like mine, you know what that means... Extremely dry and even chapped skin during this cold windy season! I know there are all kinds of great products out there for dry skin (hands, face, lips and body) but today I wanted to share with you a few of my own personal favorite (mostly face) products to save your skin in the winter - and even all year round if your skin type is typically always dry. A couple of these products are newer to me this Winter and a couple I had discovered last Winter. But I have really come to love each one and can depend on these to keep my skin looking its best - all year long, but especially in the colder dryer months!

Just for reference, I have combination skin - leaning more dry than oily. Now if your skin type is oily - I hope you would not be too quick to stop reading and think this post wont apply to you! A couple of these products I believe would be beneficial to you as well! Oily skin isn't the same as hydrated and moisturized skin! This first product I want to mention, Hyaluronic Acid, is one of them!
Now don't let the word "acid" in there fool or scare you. When I first heard about it, I was a little worried too - however its nothing harsh or scary! Hyaluronic acid is actually a natural structural component of skin, and, in fact, is present in connective tissue throughout the human body...Hyaluronic acid can improve your skins moisture content and at the same time strengthen skins barrier; that is, the outer layers of your skin. A healthy barrier looks and feels softer, smoother, and plumper—all hallmarks of younger-looking skin (source). Hyaluronic Acid is just my favorite! It keeps my skin very hydrated, plump and youthful - all year long! Its something that works no matter your skin type. If you are dry it will keep you hydrated, if you are oily it will keep you skin hydrated without creating excess oil.

Now I could totally be misunderstanding, but from what I understand on the reading and research I have done I believe that keeping your oily skin properly hydrated and moisturized may help your skin become less oily (and if you are very dry, help you produce a little more moisture). Oily skin is caused by excess sebum production, most people assume you need to dry your skin out and avoid adding moisturizing products because you'll become more oily. However, when treating oily skin, it's important to make sure you're not over-drying it, because that can cause your glands to react by producing even more sebum! A Major back-fire! So hyaluronic acid is a great (and NATURAL) way to keep your skin hydrated and moisturized!

Hyaluronic Acid can be found in creams and Serums! Pictured above is the serum that I have been using the past few months. Its wonderful, I use it day and night after washing my face while its still a little damp. And it has done wonderfuls for keeping my skin plump, hydrated and moisturized all day long. Even better, Ive noticed I am not as dry as I typically am - especially in the Winter months!

Next up is Argan Oil! This is probably something most think of as a hair product - but its actually amazing for your skin too! I use it mostly for my eyes and face, but also use it occasionally on my hands/body and in my hair too. It absorbs fairly quickly without leaving a greasy residue.  I have been using this oil for over a year now. I actually used to use it EVERY NIGHT on my eye-lids, until I got another specific eye serum from my Boxy Charm box, now that I alternate it with. But, a couple years back I noticed my eyelids started to become extremely dry and almost scaly. No amount of facial lotion or anything helped until I started using this oil on them. Its been a complete skin saver for my eyelids. There are times when I apply it all over my face (usually mixed with the last product in this post) but for the most part I use it only targeted on the extra dry spots on my face - eyelids of course, my chin and neck.

Next up is an idem I first received in a beauty swap a while back. I was very excited to try this item because I've always heard rave reviews for Glam Glow Products, and because this particular mask is for Hydration. Perfect for my Combo/dry skin! This is a mask that can be used for 10-20 minutes or left on through the night. I've tried it both ways, and actually LOVE using it as a night time mask. I've used it overnight twice - when my skin was being particularly dry, flaky and difficult. Both times I woke up with soft hydrated healthier looking skin!

Now unlike the first two products I mentioned, this one does have a scent. I cant quite pick it out, but it honestly reminds me of spicy green apples (if that makes sense haha). The scent is strong, so those who are not a fan of strong scents may not like this - as you can still smell it the entire time its on your face! I typically am very sensitive to scents myself, but to me, this one was pleasant. The other thing is that this product does create a slight tingling/warming sensation around sensitive skin areas (dont get too close to your eyes!). So it may not be a good product for those with very sensitive skin.

Product Details: GLAMGLOW ThirstyMud™ Hydrating Treatment $19 for 0.5 oz / $69 for 1.7 oz

GreenEnergy™ smooths and energizes the skin, giving you a healthy-looking, glowing complexion

Suggested Usage:
-Use two to three times per week or when needed.
-Apply an even layer to clean, dry skin.
-Can be used on the face, neck, and chest.
-Daytime use: Leave on for 10 to 20 minutes, allowing product to absorb into the skin. Wipe off with tissue and massage remaining product into skin or rinse with water.
-Nighttime use: Leave on to infuse the skin with moisture and wake up with extremely hydrated skin.
-In-flight use: Apply at beginning of the flight and leave on for flight duration.

The last product on my list actually came to me in my Boxy Charm Subscription! As soon as I saw this product I had a feeling I was going to love it. Again - when I get products specifically for hydration, I just get excited! lol After my first time trying this product quickly made it into my full time skin care routine. There was just something about this product I instantly loved. I was crushing on this product majorly even before I realized that key beneficial ingredient it has (hello again hyaluronic acid!). It just felt right with my skin - that description below sure does explain why! ♥

It absorbs quickly and leaves your skin feeling soft, plump and ready to go! It does have a slight scent, but nothing long lasting or over-powering. This is a product I use mostly in the morning after washing my face, however, I will sometimes use it at night, with a couple drops of the Argan Oil mixed in, for a really rich boost of moisture and hydration to my skin!

Product Description: Hydration with potent antioxidant botanicals HydroMilk is the first prestigious skin care weather buster in our moisturizing series and your skin’s companion for fighting oxidation and dehydration. Oxidation and dehydration are the two major causes of wrinkles and signs of aging. Potent antioxidants, rich botanical extracts, and hyaluronic acid are your skin’s new best friend. Our ZeroSilcone™, paraben and petroleum free recipe is ideal for those who suffer from low levels of moisture content in their skin due to environmental, age or genetic factors. Traditional lotions and moisturizers may contain high concentrations of silicones, petroleum and synthesized oils. These are pore-clogging ingredients that can do more damage than good. HydroMilk contains hyaluronic acid, botanicals and a blend of essential fatty acids that help repair the skin and infuse hydration. HydroMilk is formulated for a quick and easy, all-over application and will not leave a shiny or greasy film.

Alright beauty babes, that's it for my favorite Dry Skin Savers! I hope you found this list informative as well as enjoyable! Let me know if you have tried any of these products, and your thoughts/results with them. And if you have any dry skin saver favorites, please do share them with me too! ♥

    1. I know - they are hit or miss for many! I think I am borderline with it.. It doesn't bother me much or do anything bad to my skin... But I can definitely feel how it would be bothersome to those with sensitive skin!

  5. Wonderful post! I love HA and argan oil. I often use argan oil on my eye lashes. I have dry, sometimes scaly, red eyelids, and mine was diagnosed as blepharitis. I use Lindi Skin Eye Hydrator but I'll try some argan oil. I may even still have some from Pura D'Or. I love their clarifying shampoo
