Small Biz Saturday Featuring Scenic City Cosmetics

Hey beauty babes and welcome. As many of you already know,  I absolutely love discovering and helping out small businesses. Since I am often purchasing, discovering and/or being reached out by small biz brands I thought it would a good and fun idea to make an official series here on the blog. As you can tell from the title this series will be called "Small Biz Saturday". I don't know if this will be a consistent weekly post, but if I have a small biz to feature - it will be posted on Saturdays. ;) So it will be something for myself and others to look forward to and expect on my blog here. ♥

My first SBS feature goes to Scenic City Cosmetics (discount code at the end of this post)! Scenic City Cosmetics is a brand NEW etsy makeup brand inspired by the beautiful scenery of Chattanooga. Owner Pam Smith reached out to me about trying out some of her shadows, to which I gladly accepted! She sent me 5 shadows for review... Here is the adorable way they came packaged:
I love the thoughtful and earthy way her packaging is. Under the wrap and tissue paper, the 5 shadows came in individual baggies (shown below) and each individual baggie also had a small bubble wrap sleeve over them for further protection of the shadows. ♥

In the SCC shop you can find 12 different shadows. Available in 15 mm pans for $5.00 or 26 mm pans for $7.50. Pictured below are the 5 beautiful shadows that were sent to me. Presentation wise you can definitely tell these are handmade. They each have their own little imperfections here and there, but that doesn't at all take away from the quality of these shadows!

Because Scenic City Cosmetics is inspired by things that you can see and experience around the Chattanooga area (the owners hometown) - each shadow has a little "story" behind what inspired it. You all know how much I enjoy products with stories!! ♥ Here are the stories behind the shadows I received:

Bama is deep crimson shadow that is inspired by Alabama. Football in The South is huge, and in Chattanooga has a large following for the Crimson Tide, so for all those Tide fans, Roll Tide!

Cherry Cola is a medium brown with cherry red undertones inspired by that bubbly refreshing soda. I can remember drinking this soda on my grandmother's porch on those hot summer days.

White Pine is inspired by the large white pine trees in the yard of my childhood home. These massive trees are common in the Scenic City, and you will see them along the trails when you take a hike in the area.

Whiskey: This amber shadow is inspired by the warm amber color of whiskey. There are many wonderful distilleries in Tennessee including the most famous one, Jack Daniels.

Coke & Whiskey is a deep brown shadow inspired by my favorite drink, a simple Coke and whiskey.
Swatches here were created on clean skin, no primer - using my finger. The top photo was taken using the the flash on my camera. Bottom photo was taken under studio lighting.

While I know finger swatches usually show a product as more pigmented than with a brush swatch - but these apply JUST as pigmented with a brush. The quality and pigmentation on these shadows is superb!!

Not only do these shadows apply gorgeously, they also blend perfectly too. I could be wrong, but I think the fact that one of the ingredients is Fractionated Coconut Oil (love) may be a contributing factor in that. Which brings me to the constancy on these shadows - they are so soft and creamy. Quality wise they are perfect and they perform just as well used dry or wet. ♥ I've actually been obsessed with using these shadows all on their own!

Here is an eye look I did simply using the shadow Whiskey (my favorite)! ♥ GOOOSHHH isnt it perfection!? I simply blended it into my crease with a fluffy brush and then with a flat brush damp with setting spray I applied the shadow to my lids. ♥ I love how it made my eyes look more blue/green! I think this is the kind of shade that will look good on anyone, no matter your eye color! Its perfection. ♥

I will have more looks to share using SCC, coming up in the next couple of weeks. I am so excited to share them... One of will be a video tutorial. Yay!
